Arabella

ha sempre pensato

che avrebbe dovuto nascere

in Cornovaglia piuttosto che nei Cotswolds...

...o in qualche desolato paesino scozzese 

sperduto in quella deliziosa bruma

che tanto si confà al suo carattere...

Arabella

always tought

that she should have been born in Cornwall or in the Cotswolds ....

or in some little barren village in Scotland,

lost in that delicious mist

which suits so much her character....

 

 

E' una ragazzina

romantica, posata e riflessiva

le cui occupazioni preferite

consistono

nel leggere i romanzi di Jane Austen,

conversare con le amiche davanti ad una tazza

di ottimo Earl Grey fumante

o guardare commedie inglesi alla TV...

She is a young romantic gal,

composed and thoughtful,

whose preferred occupations

consist

in reading Jane Austen's novels.

chatting with friends in front of a cup

of the bestmsmoking Earl Grey,

or in watching English comedies on TV....

 

è molto educata

e siede sempre in maniera composta

come dovrebbe essere proprio

di ogni signorina che si rispetti...

...ed è anche per questo che Rossella,

la sua sorellina minore,

la chiama sempre dispettosamente

"Miss Arabella"!!!

She is very well mannered

and always seats very properly

in the way a respectable young lady should do.....

..... and it is also for this reason that Rossella,

her younger sister,

always tease her by calling her

"Miss Arabella"!!!

 

  

Nonostante questo suo carattere

così riservato

Arabella è anche molto vanitosa

e la mattina sceglie sempre con molta cura

gli abiti e gli accessori che indosserà...

le piacciono tanto i vestiti a fiorellini

romatici e un po' retrò

che si fa confezionare su misura da Nonna Angiolina

con la stoffa doppiata per essere sempre perfetta!!!

In spite of this character,
so reserved,
Arabella is also very vain
and in the morning she chooses vey carefully
the dresses and the accessories she'll wear....

She loves garments with lovely romantic little flowers,

which could be seen as a bit outfashioned,

which she gets made by Granma Angiolina

with a double layer of cloth, to be always in perfect order!!!

 

A volte
si siede davanti alla finestra
e mentre osserva Rossella giocare in balcone
oppure contempla la natura che tanto ama
sogna...
... sogna ad occhi aperti il momento in cui
finalmente una bambina
la vorrà adottare...
e di quando giocheranno insieme ai "tè delle signore"...
si faranno tante confidenze
e diventeranno amiche inseparabili...
che poi, in fondo, è solo questo
il più grande desiderio di ogni bambola!!!

At times

she seats in front of the window

and, while watching Rossella playing on the balcony

or looking at the nature that she loves so much,

she day-dreams the moments in which,

at last, a little girl will adopt her.....

and they will play together to make "ladies tea parties"....

will exchenge loads of little secrets

and will become like inseparable love-birds......

which, in the end, it's the only great wish of any doll!!!

Ciao ragazze... benvenute nel nostro nuovo blog

di cucito creativo (e non solo)!!!!

Siamo Nennè e Girin, madre e figlia,

piene di idee e di voglia di metterle in pratica!!!

Volevamo cominciare, come si conviene ad ogni nuovo blog che si rispetti, 

con un bel post di presentazione.... ma siamo già in pieno Autunno,

fra una settimana è Halloween e non vediamo l'ora di mostrarvi

la nostra prima creazione a tema...

 

Hi girls........welcome in our new blog

of creative needlework (and not just that)!!

we are Nennè and Girin, mammy and daughter,

full of ideas and willing to make them real!!

We wanted to start, as it should be for any respectable new blog,

with a nice introductory post....... but we are already in mid Autumn,

in a week it will be Halloween and we are eager to show

our first thematic creation.......

 

In fondo quale miglior modo di conoscerci

se non attraverso le cose che creiamo???

E così, bando alle ciance, eccovi qui...

le zucchette di Nennè!!!

Non sono carinissime???

Io, Girin, figlia di cotanta madre dalle manine d'oro...

le trovo adorabili!!!

So, enough with chatters, here you are with.....

Aren't they really cute???

I, Girin, daughter of a mother with such golden hands,

find them adorable!!!

 

Di semplice realizzazione (per lei... non certo per me!!!)

ma di grande effetto...

possono essere utili per decorare la casa

in questa magica stagione autunnale...

appoggiandole così casualmente su di un tavolino...

o utilizzandole per allestire un'alzatina...

oppure, con il banale ausilio di un tag con il nome,

trasformandole in segnaposto

per un bel pranzo a tema!!!!

 

Easily made (by her.....certainly not by me!!!)

but with great impact.....

They could be useful to decorate the house

in this magic autumnal season

placed casually on a little table......

or used to prepare a cakestand....

or, with the simple application of a name tag,

by transforming them into place cards

for a nice thematic lunch!!!!
